expensive.” The wedding industry represents more than $50 billion in the
Unites States alone. Your clients are paying you to help them capture a
lifetime of beautiful memories of a very special moment in their lives.
They are investing in your expertise, skill and ability to take care of
them like they were your own family. This course will introduce you to the
intricacies of wedding planning. Through managing multiple details and
understanding your clients’ logistical, budgetary and emotional needs, you
can turn that special day into a legacy of fond
memories.
You will learn how to succeed in planning and
executing these most personal special events:
- The roles of wedding planners, designers and coordinators
- Understanding your client's needs
- Client relationship management
- The Art of Venue Selection
- The Science of Securing Vendors
- Avoiding Risks and Managing Impressions

Karen Clark is the owner of Something Borrowed,
Something Blue, a Raleigh-based wedding and event planning
company.
Karen is a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her desire to pursue a career in broadcast led her to a 4-year stint in commercial radio including on-air work at WDCG and WQOK in Raleigh.
Karen’s radio experience led her to a Promotions Manager position with Columbia Records where she promoted and marketed albums for national recording artists such as Mariah Carey, Will Smith, Beyonce Knowles, Wyclef Jean and many others. This promotions position was Karen’s first foray into event planning, allowing her to coordinate parties, autograph signings, performances and regional itineraries for dozens of artists. After three years with Columbia Records, Karen landed a position with west coast based Capitol Records. After seven years in the music industry, Karen, along with her mother, started Something Borrowed, Something Blue.
Karen’s events have been seen on the Style Network shows “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?” and “Married Away.” She has been a featured contributor for InStyle Weddings, The Knot and various local news programs and publications.
Program Coordinator
Linda Jaco, CMP has been a
certified meeting planner since 2005 and has over a decade of experience

planning industry. She has planned a vast range of events including
a conference for over 20,000 participants to board retreats designed to
foster team building. Linda’s industry knowledge will be a benefit to our
