Spring 2009
Preparation for the Mechanical PE Exam
February 4 - April 15, 2009
Location: TBA
Fee: $775
Purpose
The purpose of the UNC Charlotte PE Review series is to help prepare engineers for the Engineering Principles and Practice Examination. Classroom lectures are designed to supplement and guide home study. Each session emphasizes step-by-step solutions to problems similar to those on the exam. Therefore, terms, formulas and concepts are explained relative to solving exam problems.
Benefits of this Review Course
These review courses provide guidance and direction not available during independent study. You’ll have the opportunity to network with others in the program who may wish to form study groups. The courses also help set a pace that focuses your studying efforts to insure that all areas will be reviewed before the exam.
PE Mechanical Exam Review Topics:
UNC Charlotte’s PE Mechanical Exam Review will focus on the “Breadth” section (a.m. session) of the exam.
Topics:
- Basic Engineering Practice
- Principles of Mechanics & Materials
- Mechanics and Material Applications
- Dynamics and Statics
- Fluid Mechanics
- Hydraulics
- Thermodynamics
- Power Cycles and Combustion
- HVAC
Please note that most, but not all, exam topics will be reviewed during regularly-scheduled class time. Additional self-study will be necessary to fully prepare for the exam.
